With styling reminiscent of the Porsche Boxster, the final iteration of the Toyota MR2 was built from 1999-2007. Designated the MR2 Spyder, the 3rd gen cars were available only as soft-top convertibles and were powered by a 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder engine featuring Toyota's VVT-i variable cam timing system. In addition to the standard 5-speed manual transmission, a 5-speed or 6-speed sequential gearbox was available.
