Italian manufacturer Pagani injected pure F1 technology into the Zonda, a rear/mid-engine, RWD sports car, which debuted in 1999. Tipping the scales at a scant 2700 lbs, the Zonda was constructed primarily of carbon fiber and featured several different incarnations of an AMG V12, starting with a 6.0 liter and eventually moving up to a 7.3 liter version. The Zonda R produced an outrageous 740 hp and 524 ft-lbs of torque. Pagani was also commissioned to build several one-off, special edition cars for private customers. A new, 760-hp “R Evo” model will debut in late June, 2012.
