From 1993 to 1995, Mitsubishi built the Lancer Evolution II, which took the success of the original Evo and focused on improving its handling. Although employing the same basic chassis, the Evo II had a 10 mm longer wheelbase and wider track to accommodate slightly wider tires, as well as longer front control arms and a revised front sway bar for improved steering response. A new front air dam and rear spoiler provided better stability at speed. The trend of increasing power output with each Evolution began with the Evo II – higher boost pressure, more aggressive cams and a revised exhaust system bumped power to 256 bhp. Once again, the Evo II was available in GSR and RS trim levels.
