The first generation Jeep Wrangler is a compact 4WD SUV manufactured by Chrysler from 1987-1995. Designated the YJ, the Wrangler replaced the CJ series and was designed to be more comfortable as a daily driver. Initially, the YJ received either a 2.5 liter inline 4 or the optional 4.2 liter inline 6; after 1991, a 4.0 liter straight-6 replaced the latter. The Islander and Renegade are two of the most well-known YJ models.
