The fourth generation Mustang was produced from 1994-2004 and saw many changes from previous years. The fastback model was no longer available, and the new Mustangs were stiffer and completely restyled. A new, aluminum 4.6L DOHC V8 replaced the venerable 5.0L V8 in 1995. In 1999, Ford updated the look of the Mustang with sharper, more aggressive lines. The 2003 SVT Cobra featured an independent rear suspension and a supercharged V8, making it the fastest Mustang in history at that time.
