Building on the success of the 308, Ferrari increased the displacement of the transverse V8 to 3.2 liters in the new 328 GTB and GTS. Regarded as one of the most reliable Ferraris, the 328 was available from 1986-1989 and production began in 1985. The 5-speed transmission sent 270 hp and 213 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels for a top speed of 166 mph. A special 2 liter turbocharged version was produced in Italy to avoid tax penalties imposed against vehicles with engines larger than 2 liters.
