In 2003, DaimlerChrysler introduced the Viper SRT-10, a completely redesigned model with more aggressive styling and a bigger, lighter 8.3 L engine producing 500 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. The 3rd gen cars were built from 2003-2006 and were offered as a coupe or convertible; the Viper was not available in 2007, as Chrysler prepared for the updated 2008 model year. In 2004, 200 limited edition Vipers were released with the "Mamba Package," featuring a black interior with red stitching. The 3rd gen coupe ran the quarter mile in 11.77 sec and had a top speed of 192 mph; 0-60 mph times were in the 3.8 sec range.
