Audi’s 3rd and 4th generation S4 models were basically the same, with only minor cosmetic differences and slight changes to the suspension and gearing. Both utilized the same all-aluminum, high-compression 4.2 liter V8 with 5 valves per cylinder, a 6-speed manual or tiptronic automatic transmission and 18” Avus wheels. Even without forced induction, the V8 manages 339 bhp and 302 ft-lbs of torque and is mated to the 5th gen Quattro system. Recaro seats and carbon fiber trim came standard. The high-performance B7 RS4 came to the U.S. in 2005 and featured a reworked 414-hp engine with an 8,000 rpm redline.
