2018 Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack Announced

World Records Set to Be Broken at the Fifth Year Running of the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack!

New Participant Pricing Structure, Refined VIP Experience and Unique Static Vintage Aircraft Display for the 2018 Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack

After a record-setting year at the Colorado Springs Airport in 2017, Revvolution.com, Shift-S3ctor and the Colorado Springs Sports Corp are excited to announce the 2018 Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is returning for its fifth year.

Mark your calendars for June 16–17 and don’t miss the half-mile side-by-side trap speed competition that features the fastest stock and modified street cars in the world!

After building on the success of the new layout in 2017, considerable improvements have been made for both participants and spectators alike. Organizers listened to the valuable feedback, and the VIP experience has been significantly improved by doubling the size as well as improving available amenities.
The event will also host a one-of-a-kind static aviation display featuring fully restored and functional vintage aircraft. New participant pricing has also been implemented to attract more record-setting monsters and those fresh-off-the-showroom-floor works of art. Spectators can expect 25 percent more Pro and Pro Am cars to compete.
"The Colorado Springs Airport is thrilled to serve as the venue for the 5th annual Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack,” said Greg Phillips, Director of Aviation for the Colorado Springs Airport. "We look forward to this event, and invite the Colorado Springs Community to come out to the airport to enjoy this unique experience and witness history being made.”
In 2017, more than 7,000 spectators, 50 media outlets and 60 sponsors gathered at the Colorado Springs Airport. Catching the event remotely, 1.5 million viewers tuned into the live broadcast as 260 die-hard competitors left it all on the tarmac, making Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack the largest event of its kind in the world. Who will claim the title of King of Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack with a new half-mile world record?

As we’ve learned in previous years, records will continue to be broken, engines blown and egos tarnished over the two-day half-mile side-by-side trap speed competition. At 6,500 ft above sea level, a car’s efficiency to make power diminishes, but this didn’t stop cars from establishing new world records in excess of 255 mph.

This is an event not to be missed.

RECORDS FROM 2017 HEUBERGER SUBARU PIKES PEAK AIRSTRIP ATTACK

In 2017, Lucas English piloted the Extreme Turbo Systems 2013 Nissan GTR down the tarmac at 255.54 mph, setting the all time standing half-mile top-speed world record, as well as a new world record for the Nissan GTR Platform.

Myles Kerr of English Racing explains what the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack means to his team, and as a competitor. "Ever since we went to the very first Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack in 2014, we have been addicted. There’s nothing cooler than going 200+ mph down a runway with one of the most famous mountains in the automotive world as a backdrop. The scenery is amazing, and the community is welcoming. Let’s not forget about the tarmac either, it’s the best hooking ½ mile runway we have ever been on. Team English Racing is coming in full force with at least four 200+ mph cars this year!”

Another record was set by Maude Bouladier with OB Prestige Auto. Maude and her 2015 Pink Lamborghini Huracan, aka "Sexy,” set the record for fastest woman in the standing mile, hitting 210.67 mph!

The records didn’t stop there, Morris Malone set a new Corvette record in his 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, hitting 220.80 mph in the standing half-mile. The Subaru WRX record was also beat by Andy Hartbough and Zack Morgan of PRE Racing in their 2005 Subaru WRX STi, hitting 184.58 mph.

Last, but not least, is Myles Kerr of English Racing. Myles finally achieved his personal goal of breaking the 200 mph barrier in his 1994 Acura Integra by posting a top speed of 201.07 mph, which is also a new front-wheel-drive and Acura Integra record!
