Indy Airstrip Attack to Return for Third Consecutive Year!
New Half-Mile World Record in 2017 Setting the Tone for the 2018 Indy Airstrip Attack
The Revvolution Shift-S3ctor team is excited to announce the return of the Indy Airstrip Attack to Marion, Indiana, for year three! The Indy Airstrip Attack kicks off August 18-19, 2018.
The event wouldn’t be possible without the local businesses, volunteers and the amazing community that supports us. From the community and lively spectators, the Indy Airstrip Attack has become one of the favorite stops among the Airstrip Attack season. The Revvolution Shift-S3ctor team is expecting more record-breaking speeds as the event continues to ramp up in 2018.
"The City of Marion has been honored to be the site of the Airstrip Attack. This unique event features cars and motorcycles racing at speeds of over 200 mph. We're bringing in visitors from other states, and even other countries have visited Marion over the past two years to witness this incredible viewing experience," said Jess Alumbaugh, mayor of Marion.
The Indy Airstrip Attack has continued to grow over the past few years. When Airstrip Attack first came to Indiana in 2016 there were 2,500 curious spectators who had no idea what to expect. In 2017, 4,000 spectators mobbed into Marion Airport, a 60 percent increase in spectator attendance. With the addition of 220 plus drivers and riders, 30 plus sponsors and vendors, and over 40 media outlets, the Indy Airstrip Attack is quickly becoming one of the marquee trap speed events in the Midwest.
The two-day half-mile side-by-side trap speed competition features some of the fastest stock and modified street cars in the country.
In 2017, spectators saw a new half-mile world record set as Gidi Chamdi ripped his Underground Racing Huracan down the tarmac to the tune of 257 mph! One thing the team learned about these events is records don’t last long—drivers and teams will continue to push their cars and nerves to the limits.
This is an event not to be missed.
NEW THIS YEAR
Building on the momentum from the previous two years, the team has made some considerable improvements for spectators and participants alike. The event layout has been refined and will cater more to spectators with optimal viewing points along the tarmac, as well as an improved VIP experience and beer garden. A new participant pricing structure has also been implemented to attract more record-setting monsters and those fresh-off-the-showroom-floor works of art. Spectators can expect 25 percent more Pro and Pro Am cars to compete!
NEW PARTICIPANT PRICING STRUCTURE
For a limited time, participants will be able to take advantage of the new pricing structure. Each tier is limited to 25 cars. Tier one through four offers a percentage off the registration cost for both Pro and Pro Am.
