Hillclimber Loses Steering Wheel, Wrecks, Comes Back for More

Write Up by Rick Jensen (Turboguy). Video courtesy of GoPro.

Ever have one of those days? You know, when work sucks, people are pissy and nothing seems to go right? Mr. Hillclimber here doesn’t want to hear it, because this vid shows you what a truly crappy day really looks like.

This 2-minute, 30-second master class of suck is courtesy of GoPro and takes place at a Formula Offroad event in Iceland. It starts out with Mr. H. strapped into his offroad machine and ready to haul ass up a dirt hill.

The checkered flag drops, he smacks the gas and his knobby-tired rocket ship shoots forward/up. Then, apparently, a not-quite-locked quick-release steering wheel doesn’t like being yanked on.

And we get to sit back and watch the perfect comedic timing of this unfolding drama: this poor sap realizes he might have a problem—riiight about the time that his ride goes completely vertical. And then it’s all quite literally downhill from there.

From the surprised "Oh!” to his dogged determination to fix things, Mr. H. gives us lots to love in this vid. Especially since he got right back on that horse and showed his banged-up steed who was boss.

Speaking of GoPros, what’s the absolute best amateur automotive vid you’ve ever seen? Tell us about it in the comments, and include a link!
