In-car video is always sweet to watch. You get to see what the driver sees and watch how even the minutest of driver input controls the car, usually at a very high rate of speed.
This video, taken inside the insane Audi S1 Group B rally racing shows driver Josef Berez at a Slovakian Hill Climb event. While it is amazing to watch him power the beast on the track making it look so effortless, the real gem to the video is the amazing sound.
Turn up your speakers.
If you can look through the great noise and watch the shift lever, you can see it moves as Berez applies power and the engine revs up, bouncing off the limiter. It just sounds so damn glorious.
It is a very mechanical sound, one we will never really hear again sadly. The Audi Quattro S1 was a dominating force in Group B, and this car was the poster child for the automaker.
This is the type of video that you can watch over and over because so much is happening. Mentioned in another post , a car is a visceral experience designed to elicit emotion.
Watching this video all but captures those emotions in a short, sub-two-minute clip. There is so much to see and hear, and while you may not be touching or tasting the car per se, you can still experience the insanity of it all.
