In Tulsa, Okla., Thursday afternoons are synonymous with college bar specials and yard work—a day to get things out of the way for the weekend. Every year on June 12 though, Tulsa turns into an automotive stomping ground for one automaker in particular.
Every year Tulsa hosts the Mid-America Shelby Nationals where owners of new and old Ford and Shelby Mustangs take to the streets to cruise by the iconic riverside. Police set up roadblocks to corral the high-horsepowered ponies.
Mustangs lineup at 4 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel where they then cruise down to Riverside towards downtown Tulsa. Here, the Brady Ford Fest is kickin’ with Ford fans, families and kids enjoying the cars and activities.
What made this year particularly special is the venerable Ford Mustang celebrating a bit of a birthday party, celebrating its 50th year with an all-new 2015 Ford Mustang. Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett, Jr. even proclaimed June 12, 2014 as "Ford Mustang Anniversary Day.”
The 2015 Ford Mustang introduces an all-new chassis, including an independent rear suspension, with the iconic long hood and short, fastback rear deck. June 12 will only be getting better in the coming years.
