Simply stated, Bonham’s Quail Lodge Auction pulled off the sale of the year last week during their two-day event. They boasted a 92-percent sale through rate and posted numerous world records. Nine new model records were shattered for the legendary Italian automaker Ferrari, alone. Other world records were set for Maserati, Mini, Napier, Rolls-Royce, and Speedwell, with the total sales figure posting at $108-million.
Monterey Car Week was a culmination of the world’s most sophisticated car show, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and daily classic car auctions held by the likes of RM, Mecum, Rick Cole, Russo and Steele, Bonhams, and the Pebble Beach Auction, presented by Gooding & Company, which drew over $400 million in sales. Numerous road and cruise events took place as well as an abundance of class and manufacturer specific events to appease even the most scrupulous collector. This was truly the premier classic and vintage automobile and motorcycle event of 2014.
