The Global Time Attack ProAm series with Shift-S3ctor concluded Saturday (Oct. 19th, 2013) at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California. Suitably named “The Fastest Road in the West,” the Big Willow track consists of many long, fast, sweeping turns and a high-speed front straight, making it the perfect venue for the finale.
Yesterday, the race up Americaís Mountain officially began! It marked the first official Pikes Peak International Hill Climb practice and qualifying session where the competitors had an opportunity to record their times via the official timing body and assess the strengths and weaknesses of the teamsí vehicles. As valuable tuning and tinkering time wears thin, weíve now entered crunch time, just four days away from the main event. Many of the competitors have participated in sanctioned (and private) but officially untimed practice sessions over the past month, but yesterday marked the first mandatory practice day.
Global Time Attack (GTA) teamed up with Shift-S3ctor to deliver the next two rounds of the Pro Am time attack event series at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway during the forecasted blistering-hot weekend of June 7th. Located in the California desert east of Coachella, the track presents several logistical obstacles in addition to its challenging 2.68 mile, elevation-changing, 17 turn course.
TX2K started as a Toyota Supra Nationals event 13 years ago, and now it’s become a world-class event, garnering international attention with its all-inclusive approach that focuses on all facets of automotive performance; agility; power; and speed. By dedicating the first day to the track, the second to dyno pulls, and the third and fourth to the dragstrip, TX2K built a reputation as one of the year’s must-attend events for participants and spectators alike.
