Corey Kelty is a 23-year-old Air Force crew chief who “works on C130s, gets his hands dirty, and travels all over hell,” in that order. Growing up, he raced slot cars with his gramps, and learned about old Austin/Morris Minis from his dad, so it was no surprise that when Kelty got close to driving age, he fell in love with European cars.
Morris is used to that—whether he’s working or driving. This lifelong car enthusiast has built everything from a 700-whp, twin-turbo 350Z to a Camaro ZL1. But when he decided to buy something that was already competitive from the factory, he turned to the fastest Corvette in history. “The 2009 ZR1 was the answer: it had the motor, drivetrain, suspension, brakes and aero right out of the box.” And so began his reign of terror on the local streets, his long nights “Mexico” racing and his quick expulsions from drag strips for being way too fast for the cage requirements.
This beautiful madness started when Olivier Benloulou was introduced to Haig Kanadjian, co-owner of Elite Garage Operations of Montreal, which is known for high-end, custom modifications and race operations. OB was looking for a local tuner to manage their endeavors. Haig and his partner, Harry, have been servicing OB’s projects and operations ever since. Fast-forward and we arrive at these breathtaking Italian machines they currently unleash at multiple races around the country. That’s right, plural: a blue 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and a red 2012 Super Trofeo Stradale.
We stumbled upon this sweet 2015 Challenger SEMA project in the Amsoil booth and had to know more. Its story started when Chrysler put the word out that it was going to donate this car to a talented build team. So Vintage Race Rentals (VRR) and Pfaff Designs created the winning design, won the job and took delivery of the second 2015 Challenger off the assembly line in September. And that left VRR and Pfaff less than two months to finish it before the 2014 SEMA show.
