I guess technically you could have labeled by 2005 WRX as a "stage 2" setup. If ya look in my garage I think I posted a dyno sheet... even think I started a thread with haha. And what did you use to tune with? I.e. COBB AccessPort, Open source? We did mine all open source.
I have not had it on a dyno. I have a Cobb AP and am running (when not in economy mode to save a LITTLE $) the ots "Stage 2 93 (octane)" I have not had a customized map created for my specific car. The ots ones are working just fine. However, when I can, I will probably do this at pdxtuning or a similar well-known shop. Frankly, I'm a little nervous and too over-protective to do opensource on mine. I don't mind paying a lil xtra to someone for support, peace of mind and the ability to point fingers at them. Plus it's what they DO, unlike myself.

I love how the whole "stage" issue is always brought up by tuners and other industry professionals... it's really just a marketing tool utilized by the re-flash industry, and so many people get up-in-arms about it. But I do think there's some good concepts behind it... Stage 0 - Stock (and fully functional) Stage 1 - Minimum bolt-ons with base tune Stage 2 - Maxed-out bolt-ons with applicable tune Stage 3 - Turbo/Supercharger upgrade with applicable tune Stage 3+ - Serious modifications Do you agree?
I don't think you were asking me, but I do agree completely. :-)

Yeah I did mine all open source. Brought it from the stock 182awhp to 234 awhp or if you prefer, the stock 227hp at the crank to about 287 at the crank. (stock STi power with a little punch) Not bad for the stock TD04 13T turbo! Rom Raider and ECU Flash were my best friends hahaha. Plus my tuner is a really good friend so I ended up getting free tunes and only $40 to run it on a dyno. I did pay him back with free labor and what not on his Evo and his parents Accord. And I believe open source is really safe especially with a tuner that is experienced. Yeah I think the whole "stage" thing is a good marketing ploy. Technically my WRX would be like "stage" 2.7 with the mods and tune and the Talon would be like "stage" 1.9. The way I have always seen people talk about it... Subaru "stages" 1- Intake cat back no tune, or tune no mods 2- Intake, Turboback mild tune 3- Stage 2 plus turbo upgrade more aggressive tune 4- Stage 3 with head work maybe E85 map DSM "stages" 1-Intake turboback, no emissions SAFC tune or maybe DSMlink 2- Stage 1 plus a good tune hard intercooler pipes, mild turbo upgrade 3- Stage 2 plus agressive tune, head work, possible alternate fuel map, runnin big boosties! 4- Stage 3 plus the fact I just made a Z06 owner cry. Feel free to correct me at anytime. This is just how I have seen the popular owners of each brand talk about applicible "stages"
If you talk the talk, you better crankwalk the walk.

Absolutely! Glad they came in safe (evil) You should post some pics when you get 'em on, your Scooby, your work bench, or even your toilet! (Yes, we've had a pic of a toilet, and we totally condone that behavior haha) Still need some pics of you reppin' talon! As for the stages, you bring up a good point. I guess it's all about the tuners calling the shots - what do they want to market their "stages" at. I also agree with talon in the statement that it's all about reputable tuners. If it's available, find a tuner that you know a good amount about and has a good reputation. Ask them what they prefer, and go with that. Tools of the trade my man

You better Talon! All good brotha, I know you're reppin' with the best of us! And we actually got a request for decals so that a guy could put them on his wife's knockers... So that one's been played out LOL. Sorry RevRichmond, I know you're a priest and all, and don't expect you to match that one (evil) But I do love the idea of adding a wifey to our repertoire!
