Hmm, as obvious as it is, use the right tool for the job. It can be the difference between a 15 minute project and a 2 hour long ordeal trying to make what you have laying around work.

This is most important. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Oh and if you are doing something is pairs, do one side or one item at a time. It is easy to forget how something goes back together.

Ahh good one! I always seem  to make that mistake. It comes apart much quicker, but going back together is much slower!
