About the Special Events:

Tentative details about the Road Course

As part of our event, we will be running an open road course (time attack style!) on the inner loop of the main PPIR track.

Each driver will pull up to the "Start Box" and hold until they are given the green flag.

Once the flag drops, they may start the course. As soon as the cross the "Timing Loop", the timer for their lap beings.

The driver goes around the track, and when they cross the timing loop again, the timer stops.

Here's where it gets interesting... the "Brake Box". The driver MUST come to a complete stop inside the Brake Box after crossing the finish line. As shown in the image below, if they stop in the first section of cones, their time is as shown on the timing board. If they go over the first set of cones, they will receive a +1 second penalty to their time. If the go through the second set of cones, they will receive a +2 second penalty to their time.

We will be keeping a running board showing the top 32 times for the day. At the end of the session, we will take the top 8 contestants and put them back out on the track for free. They will each have a final lap around the track to set their Shootout Time. The TOP 3 will be the victors of the Road Course Shootout.

Tentative details about the Circle-Track Course

Another activity at the event will be an open circle-track course and shootout on the inner circle of the PPIR track.

The shape of the track is shown below.

Each driver will pull up to the "Start Box" and hold until they are given the green flag.
Once the flag drops, they may start to attack the oval. You will be doing TWO LAPS for this event. As soon as you cross the "Timing Loop", the timer for your lap begins.

The driver goes around the track, and when they cross the timing loop again, the timer stops (after TWO laps).

The TOP 3 will be the victors of the Circle-Track Shootout.

Tentative details about the Gymkhana-style course

Another activity at the event will be an open gymkhana-style course and shootout on the inner circle of the PPIR track.

**This is identical to the Circle-Track race except the course is shaped slightly different**

Tentative details about the 1/8 Mile Drags

The final performance-oriented activity at the event is the 1/8 mile drags down pit row.
This is *single* vehicle races. One car on the track at a time.

We will be providing a staging area for drivers so they can meet up and run the track one after the next for grudge runs.

The driver will line up against the Timing Start line, wait for the flag to drop and be off. As soon as they cross the Timing Start line the timer starts until they cross the Timing End line. The driver must immediately move off the track once coming to a controlled speed.

We will be keeping a running board showing the top 32 times for the day. At the end of the session, we will take the top 8 contestants and put them back out on the track for free. They will each have a final shot down the strip to set their Shootout Time. The TOP 3 will be the victors of the 1/8 Mile Drags.

Tentative details about the Stereo Competition

NO system is too small!

Sound Pressure Level - by power class
How it works: all competitors will have amps clamped (If we cannot clamp you will be put in highest rated output for your amp. if you don't have an amp then you are automatically 0-500) this will be combined with the spl run. Each competitor will get 3 30 sec. runs and then the next vehicle goes. Depending on number of entries We will allow for test runs on the meter also (again 3 30 sec. runs and on to the next vehicle)!
SPL Classes:
0-500W
501-1000W
1001-2500W
2501-3500W
3501-5000W
5000+W

Bass Control (129.9/139.9)-
How it works: 2 vehicles head to head ON MUSIC 3 30 second runs (you must use a different song for each run) Your music cannot go over 129.9 db/ 139.9 db or you bust. Best 2/3 proceeds to next round. Its all about control.

Loudest of the Day: Highest SPL
Most efficient: figured by rms(clamped power) to db ratio.. This one goes to the highest spl with the least amount of power!

Bass Blowup: for those who go all out and blow subs best of show wins

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will you accept credit cards at the track?
A: Absolutely, all major cards accepted.

Q: Tech inspection for the performance events?
A: We will be doing a basic inspection of the vehicle. Make sure all body and mechanical components are fully attached, nothing hanging off. Minor cracks in windshield are OK given that they pose no threat to driver or spectators. No leaking fluids. Tires in good condition. Basically, make sure your car is in good shape before you bring it to the track. We want you to be able to drive it home!

Q: Helmets for performance events?
A: Yes, you need some sort of DOT or race-approved helmet to participate in any of the performance events. NASA & SCCA will have a couple loaners if you need them.

Q: What happened to the dynos?
A: Due to a mechanical malfunction with the 2WD dyno a week prior to the event, the operator couldn't guarantee that he could make it. As such, we decided to add a couple other performance-oriented special events in-lieu. 1/8 Mile Drags & the Gymkhana events were added. We really want to have the dyno shootout in coming years.

Q: Is this an annual event?
A: From here on out, YES.

Q: Dogs allowed?
A: No

I'll be there with the UPP Booth. Hopefully I'll be able to park with them if there's an extra spot. Still don't know if I want to enter the car show. Mine looks plain.
