So I bought the new Need for Speed game and was ripping through the streets of Fairhaven and a matte black automobile caught my eye. I whipped around in the middle of the freeway and headed back. I came across something beautiful. The Ford Focus RS500. For anyone who hasn't seen this car, it is a work of art. Unfortunately for us, it is only sold in Europe and surrounding countries. Only 500 copies were made as well. For the 2013 Focus ST owners you can send your Focus to Ford and they will make it the 345-hp beast that is the RS500. As with everything there is a downside to sending your car in, you will not get the amazing looks that come with the RS500.
That's still pretty cool that option is available, but a shame the RS500 isn't available. They have it in Forza Horizon too, looks amazing.
Is it mainly due to the crash standards, etc. etc. that are different?

I'm also a huge fan of the RS500. Back when they first started making it like 5 years ago, it has the same powerplant as my car, with a bigger K16 turbo and forged internals. Always put a smile on my face knowing I could easily push my block.
But I'm pretty sure the primary reason it's only available overseas is because it was originally designed with rally intentions - and obviously rally has soo much more of a following over there that it made sense. And the USDM has been envious ever since.

Yeah, that thing is sick. Rallying is a side of Ford a lot of Americans haven't been exposed to, with the exception of Ken Block's car. I would totally drive that car. Bet you can up the power really easy.
You can get the 5-cylinder powerplant that the Focus RS500 uses in the States in the form of a Volvo C-30. I have not heard of anyone pushing a new ST up past 300bhp. You cannot send your car to Ford to get the 5 cylinder engine. The $1,500 Hennessey HPE300 optional dealer installed upgrade will get you around 300whp.
Original Focus RS (Europe) was based on the WRC Focus, used the same 2.0 Zetec engine that was factory turbocharged. Many people in the U.S. have gotten a hold of everything needed to convert a U.S. Focus into an RS - it is not cheap. Most of these one-off Focus RS here in the States cost more than $20,000 just to convert.
The Focus ST (worldwide) is 262hp
The Focus RS500 (Europe) is 350hp
The 2015 Focus RS should be coming to the United States and it will look like a widebody ST
