What car would you buy if you wanna haul balls on the cheap? I always recommend a DSM. I'm hearing C5 Corvettes are another good option now that they've come down in price substantially. What do you guys think?

I believe a DSM fits the bill to a T. Comes stock with a turbo and AWD option, plus the aftermarket is pretty damn cheap still (although I have noticed a rise in prices thanks Evo and STi.) and for tuning we have figured out how to install an Evo VIII ECU into a DSM for less money then DSMlink. Plus of all the 4 cylinders I do like, you just cant go wrong with a built and maintaned 4G63.
If you talk the talk, you better crankwalk the walk.

I agree. The aftermarket support for the 4G63 is what I like the best. Plus you can get stupid power out of it with relative ease. I just wish the cars it came in looked better. The Galant VR-4 and Evo have excellent styling, but the Eclipse and Talon aren't really that great to look at. A '98 or '99 GSX would be the only DSM I'd drive these days.

I love all DSM's hahaha. The 90-91's are my favorites. The 97-98 Talons and 97-99 Eclipses are way nice too. Honda's are not too bad for bang for buck either. The 90's Camaro's and Mustang's are cheap to have have and modify too!

Yeah, they're not horrible, but not my first choice. I actually used to drive a modded '94 TSi, so the styling wasn't enough to stop me from buying one. Thing was quick with just Evo III 16G, 2G manifold, full 3" turbo-back, COP, IC pipes and DSMLink. Previous owner ran a 13.4 @ 101 mph at altitude. Not bad...

That is not bad at all! Enough to make a nice street terrorizer.

Yeah, it was fun for sure. Plus, I paid $4k for it like 5 years ago. Hard to beat that kind of cheap performance. I absolutely loved the Evo 16G...20 psi @ 3200 rpm in 3rd gear...all the way to redline.

You really can't beat that kind of cheap performance. Especially if you know people who are selliong known good used parts, a couple grand in a DSM will go a long long way. There are other good inexpensive platforms out there as well, but something about the DSM...

Yeah DSM FTW! Haha I think it depends on what you are going for. Honda for light duty fun stuff like AutoX until the FWD becomes a restriction on getting the power to the ground. DSM for mass amounts of power and mainly drag racing. And we cant forget about awesome burnouts and drifting! I dont know much about them but the 240sx seems to have a pretty darn big following!

Damn right...the SR20DET is another bad-ass motor. When you think about it, there are a ton of good 2.0L 4-bangers out of Japan. 4G63, SR20DET, 3S-GTE, EJ20/25, K20...
